Communication Ability and Recent Technology (essay by YS)

The dictionary says Communication means the activity or process of expressing ideas and feelings or of giving people information. Human can’t live by themselves, so people gather and help each other to live. People have to give people information to live, so communication is a tool for people to live.

There is communication whenever a human meet, another human. In ancient times, the gathered people made many groups and then that became society. We can’t live in society without communication, so communication is very important for people to live.

In these days, a lot of convenient technology has been developed and we have come to use it easily. For example, the telephone makes us able to talk to a person who is far away without meets. Talk is one communication tool, so we can communicate with just a voice to a person without seeing them. And other example is e-mail and internet. These things make people less communicate face-to-face. There are a lot of communication styles. So sometimes there are some problems between people without face to face communication. For example, on the telephone, we can’t see our partner’s face, so we can’t know what he or she feeling about what I say. If we use a telephone we have to guess our partner’s feeling with just a voice. When us use E-mail or Internet, it is more difficult for us to guess what people are thinking about. Using E-mail and the Internet, we also can sometimes communicate sometime or exchange information with unknown people. That’s when sometimes people can’t feel that their communication partner is a real person. That’s because we don’t know anything about our communication partner or we have never met them. This anonymity causes problems to make problems that are to hurt someone over PC these feeling are. So now our lives have become very convenient but sometimes we have to think about how to communicate or how to do good communication. Recently there have been many news reports.

One of Internet communication table is slander to someone on the internet. On internet nobody knows who you are. And we don’t have to say to face to face so there isn’t feeling of that is real. The internet can connect and communication all people so a little thing makes very big slander or hurt someone. We have to think about people’s feeling over PC. To think about communication partner’s feeling is base of communication but I think recent children’s this ability to understand other’s feelings is getting low. That’s because the technology developed before we could learn about communication ability between play with friend but now there are a lot of play by themselves without communication. For example TV game, I-pod, PC and so on. So we have to educate children to communication ability that is very big problem for our future, I think.

We have to think about communication ability more and be very careful to communicate without face to face communication. The technology always makes our life convenient but also we have to think about how to use it and always we don’t must forget ability of the face to face communication that the base of the communication.
